John Procter - Head of UK PHS

John was instrumental in setting up and managing the Team Health Programme with Haringey PCT which is the first telephone-led disease management programme of its kind in the UK.

John’s career began on the NHS Management Training Scheme with the NHS in Wales, before moving to Kent in 1995. Throughout his 8 years in the NHS John gained extensive experience of managing a range of clinical services and contract management.

He joined Pfizer in 1999 and worked as part of the Healthcare Consultant team, designing and implementing programmes with PCT’s in the Kent and East Sussex area. He moved to a national role in marketing before beginning his secondment with Team Health and his education in the management of long term conditions in 2004.

John is an experienced project manager and has been working for and with NHS organisations for over 15 years.

Jo Phillips - Head of UK Business Development

Jo is an experienced manager, having worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 14 years with experience of various roles from global marketing to sales and account management.

Jo has a first degree in Biomedical Sciences and an MBA in Financial Management from Manchester University - her dissertation was on project management within PCT’s.

Jo is always keen to find new challenges and is particularly interested in meeting you if you are looking for innovative solutions. She loves travel, which is really handy as 3-4 days per week you will find her on a train visiting primary care organisations all over the country.

Adrian Reedman - Project Manager (Birmingham - OwnHealth^®)

Adrian brings excellent project management skills to the team as well as being able to provide a strategic overview to the project, skills which he gained during his time in Pfizer’s strategic development department and whilst completing his MBA, also in financial management from Manchester. Adrian has also spent over 10 years working alongside primary care organisations in account management and sales roles.

Adrian is currently working in close partnership with North and Eastern Birmingham PCTs preparing for delivery and implementation of the OwnHealth^® project.

Iain McNeil - Medical Lead

Iain qualified at Dundee in 1981 then practised as a GP in North Wales and West Sussex. Before joining Pfizer in October 2005 Iain was Medical Director and Director of Service Delivery of East Elmbridge and Mid Surrey PCT. He spent 2 years doing organisational turnaround with the NHS Modernisation Agency and prior to that was Medical Director of Surrey and Kent Ambulance Services, and NHS Direct, Surrey and Sussex. Iain has also led the development of national guidelines for pre-hospital emergency care. He has been very involved in the development of telemedicine and the development of electronic patient records in emergency care. Iain is a practising clinician and also an operational pre-hospital emergency care consultant. Iain is a key member of the team drawing up clinical recommendations and working with GPs to ensure that patients’ needs are met.

Jill Lewis - Care Manager Development Lead

Jill studied Psychology before going on to qualify with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has a wealth of experience in HR and Training, together with 12 years experience of working in the pharamaceutical industry much of that time spent in joint working with a variety of NHS organisations.

Jill is responsible for the development of care management skills and providing training resources for nurses making the transition to care managers. Jill is also overseeing the development of a comprehensive patient education library (also in Urdu and Punjabi) to support patients in self management. Jill is also very involved in helping NHS D to source and recruit suitable care managers.

Pejman Azarmina - Outcomes and Evaluation Lead

Pejman qualified as a medical doctor in 1999 and practiced medicine for two years at a general district hospital in Tehran. In the same year, he joined the Academy of Medical Sciences as the executive editor of a peer-reviewed medical journal and published six bestselling books on medical topics for the public.

In 2003, Pejman moved to the UK and in parallel to working for University College London as a research fellow, he worked for the NHS as an IT project coordinator and public health information analyst, whilst completing an MSc in Healthcare Management at University of Surrey. He is a research-minded medical doctor with substantial expertise in the fields of health informatics, home telehealth, medical linguistics, evidence-based medicine and critical appraisal.

Pejman joined the UK Pfizer Health Solution team in 2005 and leads the evaluation plan of the OwnHealth® project, contributes to the publication planning of all PHS programmes and aims to develop standards regarding the evaluation of home telehealth telephone-based disease management programmes.

Patricia Blunt - Team Co-ordinator

Pat has worked for Pfizer since November 2001. Initially she worked as Product Team Administrator within Marketing. Since August 2005 she has been responsible for co-ordinating the UK PHS team activities including website, materials and whatever else needs fixing.

Pat is the initial point of contact for all UK PHS enquiries.
